It can be difficult to stick to a weight loss plan. In the beginning, we are optimistic about realizing our goals, and achieving them seems easy. After some time, even if you have been successful, it can be more and more difficult to stay motivated. However, some people manage to keep their motivation. There are some people who are successful at achieving their goals and maintaining their weight loss permanently. How do people maintain their goal weight for so long?
You should first determine what your weight loss goals are. Is there a particular clothing size you need to fit into? Do you want to reach a certain goal weight? Is it important to you to feel more fit and healthy?
Make sure to keep a record of how well you are doing. Only record your weight one time per week. Weighing yourself more often than that can cause stress. Keep a ledger that lists all the food you eat, along with the amount of calories consumed. It is imperative to not leave out drinks and snacks! When you have to write down your food and drink choices, it can go a long way toward discouraging you from making unwise choices.
When you let yourself go too long without eating, you will naturally crave foods that are high in calories and fat. This is a primal instinct that is hard to eliminate. Save money and avoid temptation by planning out your meals and bringing them with you before you leave the house. It is a good idea to bring a lunch with you from home. Not only will eating at home save money, but it will also reduce your calorie and fat intake.
The most successful weight loss programs combine a good exercise program with healthy, nutritious meals. In order to gain needed energy, you will need to make time for regular exercise each week. Finding exercise activities that you have fun doing can be a great way to do this if you find yourself struggling to stick to a standard exercise plan. Get some buddies together for a game of basketball or sign up for ballroom dancing lessons and dance the pounds away!
Many know of it, but not many actually follow it. Have a cleaning party – invite your friends over to help you get rid of the junk food in your fridge and pantry by taking it home with them. If they are not available, then you will not be able to give in to temptation. Be sure to fill the void with healthful choices such as yogurt, fruits & veggies, nuts, whole grains, and other nourishing foods. All the things that are bad for you should be discarded. You will not crave them so much when you don’t see them.
Enlist the support of your friends during your weight loss journey. Having a support group of friends and family helps tremendously in the weight loss process. External encouragement and motivation can keep you on track even if you are going through a rough patch. By calling you friends, you will have that extra motivation you need when you feel like giving up.
